Rainbow Wings-products are unique wingsuits that convince through optimized flight performance and superior quality.
Both the two-piece JETSTREAM, as weil as the one-piece BLIZZARD were designed for the individual needs of skydivers and tested in numerous jumps and in the windtunnel of the TU Dresden.
High-strenght, breathable materials are used in the proximal regions of both wingsuit models, an additional mesh liningtransports the moisture away from the body.
The determined optimized position of the air inlets guarantees a quick and safe ventilation of the wings.
The balanced ratio of the wing surfaces and their shape allows our wingsuit models high speeds and best maneuverability.
Eine wunderbare Heiterkeit hat meine ganze Seele eingenommen, gleich den süßen Frühlingsmorgen
Our two-piece beginner wingsuit is perfectly balanced, powerful and easy to fly with safe handling characteristics.
With the online designer you can create your own personal suit with your individual coloring.
Your individual wingsuit will then be tailored according to your wishes by rainbow design.
Our one-piece wingsuit is specially designed for advanced and professional flyers.
Quick-release-zipps and backfly inlets come standard for the Blizzard.
With the online designer you can create your own personal suit with different design options and individual coloring.
Your individual wingsuit will then be tailored according to your wishes by rainbow design.
The new range rainbow wings is the result of two years of intensive product development and cooperation with the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM} at the TU Dresden and the company Rainbow Design. This project was promoted by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi}.
In spring 2011at the ITM the idea was created to develop a wingsuit "Made Germany". In close contact with the wingsuit expert and TAKE OFF coach Rolf Brombach the cooperation between ITM and Rainbow design was started in February 2012.
In June 2012 the first lest jumps were carried out with the first two-piece wingsuit in Fehrbellin.
August 2013: The first test jumps were made with the prototype of the one-piece wingsuit.
October 2013: The first flights were made in the windtunnel of the TU Dresden. The fixated lest pilots flew in an air flow of max. 40 m/s with the help of special measuring constructions.
November 2013: The Rainbow wingsuits were presented at the DFV-INSITA for the first time to a broad public.
January 2014: Four days of further wind tunnel tests were carried out at the Technical University.
May 2014: The wingsuit production starts, from now on custom made wingsuits can be designed and ordered via rdwings.com .
In october 2013 the first testing of our prototypes in the wind tunnel of the Technical University of Dresden stood on the program. The fixated test pi lots flew in an air flow of max. 40 m/s with the help of special measuring constructions.
During the winter the prototypes were further developed and a concept created for the upcoming wind tunnel testing. In January 2014 extensive wind tunnel tests were carried out for four days. During these tests accurate records of lift and drag as weil as flow velocities and flow patterns were recorded by special measuring equipment. All flights were also evaluated by the test pilots and observers. Around 8 flight hours were flown in the wind tunnel du ring the project period with the different prototypes.
The results were consistently positive.
In numerous meetings the first basic steps were discussed, developed and the first prototypes manufactured.
Already in june 2012 test jumps were carried out with the first two-piece wingsuit in Fehrbellin. During these tests a special attention was laid to the safe filling of the air chambers, the testing of unstable and indifferent phases of the flight (especially for beginners of significance) as weil as the material combinations and wing structures.
The following prototypes were developed further during the year and tested in all possible flight conditions by our test pilots Rolf Brombach, Laura and Sebastian Nossing and Jan Runge.
In august 2013 first test jumps were made with the one-piece prototypes.
All in all 250 test jumps were carried out du ring the project period with the different prototypes.
Our focus was the realization of a excellent wearing comfort and optimum flight performance.
With the computer-aided design an optimal cut of our suits was developed for different standard or customized sizes. A stable flight with high performance of our wingsuits was achieved through the optimal fit.
During the 2-year development period many new ideas such as the Quick-release-zipps, lnspection-openings or Easy-connectors were integrated into our wingsuits. In the development of the prototypes many suggestions from our experienced test pilot crew have been incorporated.
Rainbow designs new wingsuits "Made in Germany" hold the highest quality standards. This was made possible by the excellent collaboration with our cooperation partner Technische Universität Dresden and the support from the BMWi.
